Thanks, this was very helpful! I'm trying to track down specific processes that are using increasing amounts of memory & CPU, and this is a good exercise in scripting with SCOM.

Does anyone know if there is a good (technical) reason that rules only allow you to return one piece of data? A single process as 45 properties. Not that I want to monitor every single one, but it seems extraordinarily redundant to have to create a myriad of rules to monitor related items.

Thanks, glad you like it. This is due to something called code access security enforced by the common language runtime. I didn't focus on modifying the security policy or strongly typing the assemblies to coincide with a security policy so this is to be expected.

Hi alan,

Great tool thanks.

BTW I was getting an error "Request for the permission of type 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlClientPermission'.....failed" which was because I was running the tool from a UNC path. Copied the binary to a local path on the client and bingo ;-)

Hey arif,
We don't have any versions earlier than the one I wrote this MP to discover. The discovery is simply based on the existence of registry keys and their values. If you open the MP and search for the RegistryAttributeDefinitions tag you can see that there are two elements underneath I used to define the registry based discovery. Compare these entries to the paths for your installation version and modify them to meet your registry path needs as necessary. Once that's done, just import with your changes and you're set.

Hi alan,

we have older versions of BackupExec installed on our servers. Is it possible to discover these versions too? Or what do i have to change in your MP to do so?

Thanks
